There’s a lot of talk about the Glock 17 versus the Glock 19. So, we’re going to share some ideas in this article.
Let’s start with the Glock 17. This is the classic Glock. It is one of the first Glock nine millimeters. And then there is the Glock 19. It is the most popular nine-millimeter pistol on the market, very similar.
The Glock 17 is going to carry 17 plus one standard, the Glock 19 is going to carry 15 plus one standard. They both have the rear serrations there, and they both have a rail. The only real significant difference is the length in grip and the length in barrel.
Though length and barrel is not much, it’s about a half inch, which makes the 19 a little more easy to conceal. And then also the grip there. As you see the 19 come on top of the 17th is a little bit smaller. So smaller hands, easier to grip, larger hands probably easier for the 17. But I think it’s something for you to check out as well.
The other cool thing that I love about the Glock 19 is this. If you’re getting yourself a duty holster and military holster, which both of these are designed to work well for law enforcement and for military, the Glock 17 has the holster right here. And if it’s perfect, you can also see a red dot or a light on there. That’s the rapid forces to level three retention. The Glock 19 will also fit right there as well. And that’s what’s cool, but if you had the Glock 19 version, the 17 wouldn’t fit in there. So, I do like that about the 19. Very, very cool.
These are great guns, you really need to go to your local gun store, put them in your hand and see how they feel. And then if you can find a range that will let you check them out, borrow them and shoot them. Check that out too.
I would say this is a little more of the ideal concealed carry gun that’s the Glock 19 or the Glock 17 is just a little bit bigger so it’s a little harder to conceal but if you’re using that for duty, it’s not that much of a difference.
Also, there are other magazines available for both of these. The Glock 17 comes standard like I said with the 17 plus one magazine but you can also get the 19 the 24 the 31 and the 33. The Glock 19 comes standard with the 15 plus one magazine, also available in 1724 31 and 33.
There you go. They are both great guns and depending on what you’re looking for you decide the Glock 19 is going to be a little easier to conceal carry.
